The Wii Keeps You Fit

The kids were kept at home since last week because of a HFMD outbreak in their school.

This time, we are keeping them longer at home, for my sake. It would be agonising, to be stuck at home, suffering from a splitting pelvis, heavy tummy, raging heartburn, indigestion, constipation, and having HFMD which will likely give me blisters on both my palms and feet and ulcers in the mouth.

So I 'surrendered' and resorted to using the TV to entertain the kids. It has become too challenging to try and sit down on the floor to play jigsaw or other games with them. Their little chairs and table are also too low for me to sit comfortably. Only place that I rest my backside on is either the chair in the study room where I work, or the living room sofa where I get to put my feet up.

1 morning when Aidan was doing some activities with me, his feet kicked the Wii console below the table and he asked to play. So he got to play... and play.. and play... and I think he's gone through all games inside the Wii Sports Resort.

I particularly like 'swordfighting' in it. No, I don't enjoy playing but I enjoy watching my family slicing things/ hitting their opponents.

Check out Aidan in this video - really cracks me up. I tried to ask him to keep some distance between him and the TV set but when he gets too excited, he's almost kissing the TV!

Christmas Presents

Christmas came early for us last week.

We got a Nintendo Wii, which came in a promo package which threw in an extra controller, a '12 in 1' equipment package, discounted 'Mario Kart'. Everyone was happy, especially the boy. Little Ammi enjoys watching the racing with 'Peach' (an all pink girl with ponytail) as the character.

As I type right now, the 'investor' is playing his heart's out after the kids have gone to bed. Our house rule: No Wii for Aidan except on weekends. I wasn't sold on Wii until I tested it at Bet and Charles' place 2 weekends ago. Wii Fit was totally fun and cool! Anyway, due to the current economic situation, we decided to hold off purchasing a Fit set ... let's see for how long.

A day before we got the Wii, I bought our new camera. It was quite a hasty decision, let's hope we won't regret. I thought I'll stick to my darling Nokia N95 camera but there were discounts everywhere and the best deal happened to be at Harvey Norman, with those freebies so I grabbed it. Plus aesthetics are pretty important for me and Hubby - the colour must be right! We fell in love with the Gold Canon Ixus 870 so it was easy for us to think we needed a new camera. Moreover, I complained about the night shots that our old Casio produced and the saleslady said only Canon and Pentax have powerful night shots, so that is it. We need a Canon!!

Plus I am going to attend a free 2 hour 'get to know your camera' course tomorrow.

Well, we do need a new camera because we are breaking for a ski holiday next weekend. It'll be a kids-free holiday, the kids get to spend 10 days with their grandparents in K.L.

The Nintendo Wii is also a guilt-trip present to the kids to entertain them in K.L. while we are away. Well, that is Daddy's reason for buying the Wii in the first place, or so he says!
